Portable Air Conditioner Cools Any Room in the House

Lindsay ~ 12 April 2007

With summer only a couple months away, it’s not too early to think of how you’re going to cool your home this year. If your old cooling system is dying (or you don’t have one and wish you did), maybe it’s time for a new air conditioner. However it can be expensive to install (and pay the monthly energy bills on) a whole-house system, especially when you consider how few of us actually use the whole house day and night. If all you want to do is cool your bedroom at night or your living area during the day, a portable air conditioner may be a better bet.

The Sharp CV-P09FX is rated at 9,000 BTUs and can remove up to 60 pints of moisture in 24 hours. It comes on casters, so you can easily move it from room to room, and the flexible exhaust hose and window adapter kit is supposed to make it easy to set up the venting to the outside. Other features include a remote control, a built-in timer, an LCD display, and oscillating louvers. The price runs around $700.
