Brick Patios, Lots of Possibilities
When it comes to building patios, concrete is probably the most popular material. It’s relatively inexpensive and you don’t have to be an expert to pour it, so laying a concrete patio is a project many homeowners can take on by themselves. Concrete can be a bit… boring though.
If you’re looking for something with a different color and texture, consider brick. Bricks can be laid in numerous patterns, and you can get different sizes, shapes, and even some variation on color. The circular patio pictured here is an example of a creative way brick can be laid. Though perhaps not as easy as pouring concrete, it’s certainly feasible for a do-it-yourself type to take on bricks.

Actually, for a do-it-yourself’er, laying a nice brick patio is even easier than pouring a concrete patio. No forms to build, no concrete to mix, no working under the pressure of the time frame from the concrete truck. If time is taken to properly level out the area and plan correctly, anyone can achieve very professional results by building their own brick patios.
