Plant Food to Help Plants Thrive
I’m always envious of those people who have houses and yards full of bright thriving plants, flowers, and shrubs. I’ve never been able to achieve that kind of gardenly success. Do these folks have the fabled Green Thumb? Better sun flowing into their yard? The right kind of fertilizer? (Or maybe they just remember to water their plants on a regular basis…)
If your greens are looking a little peaked, you might want to try some fertilizer to perk them up. One type that is relatively new on the market is Dynamite Plant Food. It’s a time-release fertilizer, which can provide all the nutrition an indoor or outdoor plant needs for optimal growth for 9 months. According to the company, Dynamite is better than Osmocote–the previous gold standard of plant food–because it lasts longer and works well even in very hot weather and damp climates. Special nutrients in the fertilizer help keep plants healthy and strong (though I suppose you still need to remember to water them…).
Dynamite plant food can be purchased at Home Depot and other garden stores as well as online (prices over at Amazon ran around $10). If you’re not sure there’s much of a difference between one type of fertilizer and another, apparently there is, and this one even won an award for its quality. Dynamite took home the Gulf Guardian Award from the EPA thanks to the “secret coating” on the granules, which is what ensures the even and safe release of its nutrients, even in hot and humid weather.
Now doesn’t all this talk of thriving plants make you want to go out and garden? Or at least buy a few plants? Though I believe I shall wait until the snow melts outside my door…
