Colorful Silicone Trivets Protect Your Countertops

Lindsay ~ 14 February 2007

If you want to protect your kitchen countertops from hot pans just out of the oven, any old trivet will probably do. But if you want to go beyond the purely utilitarian, you can get decorative trivets. Painted ceramic tiles are pretty common, but silicone is increasingly making it’s way into the kitchen these days. It’s in utensils, oven mitts, and yes trivets too.

This grape leaf trivet is from iSi ORKA and, though it’s relatively thin, it’s designed to keep hot pots from damaging countertops or tables. It can also double as protection against condensation from cold pitchers of lemonade or other chilled beverages. The silicone trivet is non-porous, non-staining, and dishwasher safe. And if grapes aren’t your thing, there are also hand-shaped trivets, suns, hearts, and plain (but colorful) squares.
