Self-cleaning Litter Box Takes the Work out of Cat Ownership
If you have cats, you doubtlessly know the joy (ahem) of cleaning up little granules of litter that get flung/tracked/spilled out of the litter box. And then there’s the smell from within the box itself; if their commode isn’t emptied on a regular basis…. well, you know it. There are quite a few fancy litter boxes out there that are supposed to do a better job of keeping the mess from spilling out, but this is the first one I’ve seen that actually cleans up on the inside.
The Litter Round-Up One-Touch is supposed to be completely self-cleaning. You push a button and the circular pan rotates so a rake can lift and scoop waste into a waste receptacle, which can be removed for easy disposal (better not do this when the cats are in the room or they might get a little nervous–how would you like to see your toilet spinning in circles?).
An optional accessory is a hooded dome that helps keep litter on the inside. The price for the basic unit is $90 at SmartHome.
