Under-counter Fruit & Veggie Hammock
If you’re among the tiny percentage of Americans who actually buys and eats fruits and vegetables on a regular basis (or you’re visiting this blog from a healthier country), then you probably know that not all fruits and veggies are meant to be stored in the refrigerator. Some are supposed to sit out at room temperature, which is why most people have a fruit basket. But fruit baskets take up table or counter space, and if you have cramped kitchen quarters there might not be room. You’d be the perfect candidate for a fruit hammock.
Available from Whatever Works, this under-counter hammock “gently supports fruits and vegetables and reduces bruising and soft spots.” The ventilation offered by the open-air construction is also supposed to encourage better ripening and decrease the potential for spoilage. This means fruit lasts longer and tastes fresher. Not bad for $15.
