Night Light + Air Purifier

Here’s a gadget for the home: the Nightlight Germ and Odor Sanitizer from Hammacher Schlemmer is a good idea for a child’s room. Even if Junior isn’t afraid of the dark, you can rest easily knowing that the air in the room is being purified as he sleeps.

The night-light-sized air purifier uses the same UV technology hospitals use to kill bacteria on instruments. A quiet-running fan sucks room air into the chamber (which contains a UV-C bulb and a titanium dioxide lining that works to break down organic compounds such as cold- and flu-causing germs), cleans it, and sends it back out again. The bulb lasts 5,000 hours, so you won’t have to replace it for a while. The gadget comes with a rotating plug, so it can fit into any AC outlet in your house. The price is $60.
