Create Your Dream Front Door

Lindsay ~ 16 November 2006

If you’re building a house from scratch or painting and renovating the outside of your current home, you may be in the market for a new front door. Sure, you can grab something off the shelf at the local home improvement store, but if you want something that reflects your personality, you could buy from a company that lets you be part of the design process. This could mean hiring someone that specializes in custom doors, or you could go with a company that lets you mix, match, and choose from their existing designs to get something that suits you.

Entry Point Glass has a little generator on their site that lets you walk through a few steps, choosing what you like, in order to create your “dream door.” The one in the picture is the door I created (hey, I never claimed to have any design skills). The generator was self-explanatory and it only took a few seconds, but there are quite a few options you can pick from, so you definitely feel there’s a degree of customization. Too bad you can’t just order the door after you’ve designed the one you like (you have to click through their site to “find a dealer” to work with), though I suppose you could print out the results and say, “Gimmie that one.”
