Doorbell Button Ideas

Lindsay ~ 9 October 2006

When you’re thinking about doing home improvements, sometimes you’re ready to tackle big projects, such as laying new floors or building a deck, but sometimes you just want something small that will only take an hour or two to do on the weekend. One of those projects could be replacing your doorbell button. Sometimes the doorbells that come with the house are… less than impressive. Well, I’ve hunted down pictures from around the web to give you some ideas on what’s out there. Let’s take a look:

This button and surround is from Rocky Mountain Hardware, a company that specializes in bronze work. This piece is made from white bronze with a dark patina and is styled after old Aztec art. The price is $118.

This door bell button from the Hardware Hut features the whimsical Kokopelli from mythology. The image and the accents are made from brass, and they’re set against a dark travertine base. The price is $32.

This narrow pacific style doorbell button from Craft Home will need a pretty nice doorknob to go with it, lest it overshadow the entrance. The backing here is 5.5″ tall by 1.625″ wide, and it’s made of hammered solid copper. The cost is $75.

If you like to support your local fireman or tip your hat to the armed services, you can find patriotic doorbells, such as this one featuring a U.S. Army logo. The finish is pewter on a green slate background. It’s available at the Knob Gallery for $35.
