A Gas Station in Your Own Garage?
Lindsay ~ 16 October 2006
For most of us, a home gas station is just a fantasy, but if you drive a Honda Civic GX, which is designed to run on domestically produced natural gas instead of gasoline made from oil, you could fuel up in your own garage and save money too. The Phill Home Refueling Station draws on the same natural gas that powers your furnace (it takes a plumber to plug it into your existing line) and pumps it into the car at about $1.30 for the equivalent of a gallon of gas. The downside? It’s a wee bit slow. Because it lacks a built-in compressor, the Phill station takes 16 hours to fuel the GX from empty to full.
