The Internet Makes Selling Your House FSBO Easier
In the old days, it was a lot of work to sell your home without the help of a licensed real estate agent. Just to get visitors to your open house, you had to canvas the neighborhood posting signs on every corner, and you had to spend money on classified listings in all the local newspapers. You had to invest all that time and money before you even got to the part where someone made an offer. I won’t promise you it’s a piece of cake to sell your home by yourself today, but the Internet has made things a lot easier. In fact, there are web sites that specialize in listing homes FSBO (For Sale by Owner).
Many of these sites offer tools for buyers as well as sellers. This makes the site a destination for both sides, buyers and sellers, so you’re likely to get traffic to your listing (there’s nothing worse than spending time and money listing your house somewhere and realizing the only other people reading that resource are also people listing their homes–the buyers are no where to be seen!). Online tools such as mortgage calculators and articles on buying a home draw potential home buyers to real estate sites, where they can then browse FSBO owner listings, such as yours.
Speaking as someone who is planning to purchase a home soon myself, I would definitely say the Internet is the first place potential home buyers start their search. It lets us browse listings, look at photos, and map neighborhoods, all from our home computers in the comfort of our pajamas. Most of us aren’t turned off by FSBO listings either, since we know we might be able to get a better deal that way (as it cuts out the realtor’s commission). So, if you’re thinking about selling your home yourself, definitely start out taking advantage of the tools and web sites the Internet has to offer.

I think your correct, that with the internet sellers can get the word out better. FSBO tools are fantastic, but keep in mind buyers know you saving $ and may want some. I would also like to point out, that all homes are “For Sale By Owner.” But the ones that use and Real Estate Agent have professional representation. FSBO’s do not. That is very important in making sure you don’t get in a liable contract situation…. there are many more reason’s to go with an Real Estate Agent, but we are all entitled to our own methods.
