Short on Cash? Build Your Own Mosaic Dining Room Table
Any new homeowners will tell you how expensive it can be to furnish your home. If you’re at all handy, you might be able to save money by creating some of your own furniture. No, I’m not talking about making bookshelves from cinderblocks and boards. A couple in a small apartment was short on space and couldn’t quite find anything that would work for them, so they built their own dining table.
This “mixed media mosaic table” is designed to tuck nicely into a corner, while offering more than two places to sit and eat. The most interesting thing is the table top. It’s made from plywood and covered with broken tile and a lot of other interesting objects: a pressed flower between two pieces of glass, Man Ray photos from an old calendar, Intel computer chips, and some bits of shiny copper. Total cost for the project? $30.
