Sapele Hardwood Flooring
Lindsay ~ 26 September 2006
Sure, everybody’s heard of oak and maple hardwood floors, but maybe you want something a little more exotic. How about sapele? This large tree is native to tropical Africa, and sapela hardwood flooring is reminiscent of Santos mahogany but with it’s own distinct style. For the stats-conscious, the reddish brown wood has an average stability with a hardness of 1500, which makes it about 4% harder than maple, 11% harder than white oak, and 50% harder than teak. So basically it looks good and it’s durable enough to last for a while.
