Original 1960s Retro Wall Sconces
Lindsay ~ 13 September 2006
A lot of people cringe at the idea of borrowing from the decor of the 1960s to decorate their homes, but some of it wasn’t entirely horrible. No, really. These wall sconces by Gio Ponti for Lumi wouldn’t look out of place in many modern settings. It probably helps that they’re from Italy instead of the U.S. I don’t think they were being quite as, uhm, “original” across the ocean during that decade. If you’re interested in these sconces, you should know they are the original works, however, and not reproductions (that’s code for they’re expensive). It’ll cost you $16,000 to own one of the two that are available from Todd Merrill Antiques. You really need to like your 60s decor to invest in that.
