High-tech Bathroom Tiles Make Cleaning Easier
Actually, these tiles can be used anywhere (foyer, kitchen, swimming pool, etc.), but I mentioned bathroom in the title because that’s where I most hate cleaning tile scum, especially in the shower stall. (And shower stalls are where the tiles tend to get their nastiest.) These easy-to-clean tiles use something call Hydrotect to eliminate bacteria build-up, reduce funky odors, and make cleaning off dirt and mildew as easy as spraying with water (that’s what the video over at the DSA Ceramics site says, anyway). These high-tech tiles have activated oxygen molecules that are capable of decomposing bacteria, fungi, algae, germs, and even moss (though if you have moss growing in your shower stall, you may need more help than a simple tile can give you…). The surface of the tile “becomes hydrophilic thereby releasing the surface tension of the water globules to form a thin film while lifting dirt from the surface to ensure easy cleaning.” I won’t attempt to go in any more depth here.
