Herb Gardens

Lindsay ~ 12 September 2006

If you enjoy cooking, maintaining a herb garden really is a necessity. Buying fresh herbs from the store is not only expensive, but it’s usually wasteful, because you never end up using all the leaves they give you before they go bad. And the alternative of using dried herbs isn’t as appealing as having fresh ones. Growing herbs lets you have all your favorites and you can snip off exactly as much as you need for one meal, while leaving the rest on the plant where it will keep growing. People who live in warm climates are particularly fortunate (as this article on Home Gardening in California describes), but there’s hope for the rest of us too. With a bit of patience, you can grow herbs in a greenhouse or even indoors (hey, that means you don’t have to walk as far to snip your herbs when it’s time to cook a meal).
