Low Flow Shower Heads
Lindsay ~ 23 August 2006
One way to save water (and thus money on your water bill) is to install low flow showerheads in your bathrooms. Of course, no one wants to take a shower with wimpy water pressure, which used to be what you got when you installed low-flow faucets or showerheads. Today, however, you can get systems where water is mixed with air in “self-pressurizing” showerheads. This gives you the same 80 pounds of water pressure per square inch that standard models offer. Yet these newer models only use 1.6 gallons of water a minute, as opposed to the 5 gallons that regular showers waste. So, the bottom line is you get the same intensity of spray beating onto your shoulders with 70% less water wasted.
