Reflective Window Wells Let More Light Into the Basement
Lindsay ~ 16 June 2006
Here’s a smart idea for homes with below ground basements and teensy tiny high-up windows that never seem to let in enough natural light. This window well abuts your existing windows and, unlike a standard metal or concrete window well, it has an angled and sloped design–along with a special reflective material–that lets more light come streaming inside. Sunhouse, the company that makes them, says they also keep unattractive weeds, which can hinder sunlight, from growing outside the window. All in all, any device that makes the basement less like a cave is good in my book (unless of course, you’re into that dark, musty, troll-living-under-a-bridge kind of atmosphere).
