Central Vacuums for Condos and Small Homes

Most central vacuum systems are designed for large houses, but what if you’ve got a smaller home or a condo? You’re stuck with your upright? Well, at least one manufacturer has started making compact central vacuums for homeowners without the space to store a large unit. Eureka’s Yellow Jacket is a built-in central vac that can fit in a closet or even be tucked into a kitchen or bathroom cabinet. It weighs less than 9 pounds and is about 1/3rd the size of an upright vacuum. Inside the little cylindrical tank is a 10.2-amp motor and a 4-quart dust bag. The Yellow Jacket can be connected to three vacuum inlets and can handle up to 2,000 square feet of living space. The price is about $500 installed.
