Toothbrush Sanitizer

Lindsay ~ 1 April 2006

Ok, your toothbrush is supposed to be for cleaning your teeth, but apparently it’s teeming with nasty little spores, bacteria, and viruses. I guess that’s believable if you think about it. I mean, how often do you change toothbrush? Once every three months? If you’re good? And it gets soaked in water and swished around in your mouth at least twice a day (I hate to say it, but your mouth ain’t all that pleasant inside). Then it’s left in some dark drawer or slimy cup to marinate in its own germy moistness. The more I think about it, the more I’m wondering if I should be buying a new toothbrush every week. Ah, but I’m saved. It looks like there’s now such a gadget as a toothbrush sanitizer. This compact device uses “germicidal UV technology” (sounds very impressive, doesn’t it?) to de-germ your toothbrush between uses. And all the while, it takes up less counter space than a soap dish. The price for this handy bathroom gadget is $50, and it’s available from Hammacher Schlemmer:
