Leather Floors
Lindsay ~ 7 April 2006
Did you now that leather (aside from making a lovely purse) can be used as a flooring material? It’s warm and soft underfoot, it provides good sound insulation, and it’s surprisingly long-lasting. Leather does scratch easily (so it may not be the best choice in a room often trafficked by pets and children), but if you’re not obsessed about a flawless floor, you might like the way leather ages: it matures and develops a nice patina over the years. Leather flooring usually comes in tiles, which can be custom-made to suit your tastes. There are a variety of colors available, and you can mix and match to create unique patterns. Leather is comparable in price to a good-quality hardwood or carpet.
