Chimineas, the No-Installation-Required Outdoor Fireplace
Lindsay ~ 19 February 2006
Now that winter is almost over, people are starting to think of spring and summer and entertaining in the backyard again. Outdoor fireplaces are popular additions to patios, but installing one is a costly renovation. This is why many people are looking at portable alternatives, like chimineas. Based on old clay Mexican stoves, they’re kind of a cross between a fire pit and a fireplace. This chiminea, available from HomeClick, has a European vineyard design twining around it and comes in either cast iron or aluminum. It’ll cost you $185 plus shipping, and you can just take it out of the box and set it up–no big installation costs to worry about.
